​

사도행전은 예수가 메시아라는 복음이 전파될 때 성령님이 일하셨음을 보여줍니다. 죄로 인해 왜곡되고 일그러진 세상이 하나님 나라로 변화되기 시작하였습니다. 질병으로 죽어가는 육체가 건강함으로, 죄로 인해 죽은 영혼이 영생으로, 시기와 미움으로 죽은 관계가 그리스도의 공동체로 회복되었습니다.

​

재물, 지위, 종교가 만들에 낸 벽과 경계가 허물어지는 것을 원치 않았던 세상은 거세게 복음에 저항하였습니다. 하지만, 고난과 핍박은 성령님의 일하심을 막을 수 없었습니다. 갇혀 있는 상황에서도 복음은 더 널리 전파되었고, 핍박을 받는 중에도 교회가 더욱 굳건히 세워져 갔습니다. 또한, 성령님은 예수의 증인들에게 임하여, 담대함과 능력을 주시고, 동역자로 부르셨습니다. 세상이 주목하지 않았던 사람들이 경계를 넘어 진리를 선포하고 성령님의 새롭게 하는 일에 함께 헌신하였습니다.

지금도 성령님은 동일하게 일하고 계십니다. 질병과 두려움, 단절과 절망, 편견과 혐오를 넘어 성령님의 회복하심은 계속하여 진행되고 있습니다. 그리고, 우리는 이러한 성령님의 사역에 동참하도록 부르심을 받았습니다. 성령님이 주시는 능력과 한 마음으로, 그 부르심에 순종하여 우리의 가정, 직장, 사회가 하나님 나라로 새롭게 되는 일에 함께하길 원합니다.

The Acts of the Apostles shows the dynamic work of the Holy Spirit in advancing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. By the work of the Holy Spirit, the world buffeted and distorted by sin began to gradually transform into the Kingdom of God. A seed of restoration was planted and began to multiply: dying fleshes restored into healthy bodies; souls destined to death by sin restored into souls with eternal life; and communities soaked with hatred and jealousy restored to the community of Christ Jesus. 

 

The world, which surrounded itself with a stronghold of wealth, power, and false gods, vehemently resisted the advancement of the Gospel. However, persecution by the world and suffering of the people of God were not able to stop the work of the Holy Spirit. Even in captivity, the Gospel advanced farther, and even under persecution, the church thrived further. In addition, the Holy Spirit descended on the witnesses of Jesus Christ with boldness and power and began to work with them. Those who were marginalized from society began to take part in the new work of the Holy Spirit, boldly claiming the truth beyond the boundaries of the world. 

 

This very day, the Holy Spirit continues to work in the same way - powerfully and dynamically. Transcending disease, fear, isolation, hopelessness, prejudice, and hatred, the work of the Holy Spirit is pressing on toward the goal of restoring the world. We are called to take part in the working of the Holy Spirit. With the power of the Holy Spirit and being one in heart and soul, let us respond to the call of the Holy Spirit to restore our homes, workplaces and societies into the Kingdom of God.
